Mark T. Wagner, Chairman
Mr. Wagner is presently President and CEO of Celleration, Inc. and was previously Chief Executive Officer of ProVation Medical, Inc. which was sold to Wolters Kluwer in 2006. Prior to his position with ProVation Medical, Mr. Wagner was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Survivalink from September, 1996 until its sale in September 2001 to Cardiac Science, Inc. Mr. Wagner was employed by Nellcor Puritan Bennett from 1993 until 1996, where he served as Vice President and General Manager of Nellcor's Global Sleep Solutions Group. Mr. Wagner held various executive positions with GE Healthcare from 1979 until 1993. Mr. Wagner holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California and is a member of the board of directors of Celleration, Inc.
Rajiv Khosla, Ph.D., Director
Rajiv Khosla is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Orasi Medical. Dr. Khosla is an accomplished Business Executive with over 25 years of success in various sectors of the Life Sciences industry, including Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Specialty Chemicals. His career includes senior positions in General Management, and Business & Corporate Development, as well as a proficiency in International business from having lived and worked in the US, Europe, and Asia. Most recently, Dr. Khosla was Vice President Business Development at Biovail Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he successfully led and concluded several specialty CNS transactions in Neurology and Psychiatry. Prior to this, Dr. Khosla led and managed the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device businesses at ISP Inc., ICI, and Sensient Technologies. He began his Pharmaceutical career in drug delivery and formulation development in the UK at Merrell-Dow, and Tillotts Pharma. Dr. Khosla has a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Nottingham (UK), an MBA from Henley Management College (UK), and is a registered Pharmacist (UK).
Kenneth B. Heithoff, M.D., Director
Dr. Heithoff is the founder, National Medical Director and Chairman of Center for Diagnostic Imaging. Dr. Heithoff graduated from the college of St. Thomas and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He then completed his radiology residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals before serving as a Clinical Associate for the U.S. Public Health Service, National Institutes of Health. He also attended the Harvard Business School Owners and Presidents Management Program, and is a diplomate of the program. Under Dr. Heithoff's leadership, the Center for Diagnostic Imaging has grown to include 50 imaging centers throughout 8 states, and is one of the largest teleradiology networks in the nation. CDI is recognized for excellence in care, service, interpretive accuracy, and consulting acumen. Dr. Heithoff has authored and co-authored more than 50 articles and book chapters, and lectured internationally on topics related to spine imaging. He also served on the editorial boards of several journals, including Spine and Radiology. His professional affiliations included the American College of Radiology, the North American Spine Society, the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Radiological Society of North America.
Michael Jerstad, Director
Mr Jerstad is a Partner at PrairieGold Venture Partners an early stage venture capital firm focused on life science and cleantech opportunities in the Midwest. He oversees all aspects of the firm's investment activities, from sourcing, structuring and negotiating investments to serving as a board member for portfolio companies. Mike focuses on life science opportunities, and represents PrairieGold on the boards of Chronix Biomedical, PetMedicus Labs and Orasi Medical. Prior to joining PrairieGold, Mike worked in Piper Jaffray's Investment Banking Group in its Minneapolis and San Francisco offices, specializing in merger and acquisition advisory services and public and private equity financing. Before Piper, Mike was an attorney at Briggs and Morgan in Minneapolis, specializing in business litigation, employment law and contracts. He received his B.A. from Tufts University, his J.D. from Georgetown University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
Doug Johnson, Director
As Director of the Venture Center at the University of Minnesota, Doug Johnson is dedicated to improving technology commercialization at the University through the formation of new companies. Doug started the Venture Center in late 2005. Prior to that, Doug was the founding Director of the Carlson Ventures Enterprise within the MBA program at the Carlson School of Management (University of MN), which he created and taught for 5 years. His prior background includes twenty-plus years in venture capital (primarily with Norwest Venture Capital), investment banking (Dain Bosworth), and private investing and turnaround work. Doug received degrees in Mathematics and Business (MBA) and currently serves on the boards of several private high-technology companies.
H. Christian Fibiger, Ph.D., Director
Dr. Fibiger is most recently Senior Vice-President, Chief Scientific Officer of Biovail Laboratories International SRL; he is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and before Vice-President and Global Therapeutic Area Head of Neuroscience for Amgen Inc. He has served as Professor and Head of the Division of Neurological Sciences and Chair of the University Graduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Fibiger has authored or co-authored over 400 publications and has made numerous contributions to neuroscience research.
Marcus Enns, Director
Mr. Enns is Vice President, Operations for CentreStone Ventures, an early stage life sciences focused venture capital fund based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently holds an executive position with two TSX Venture Exchange listed companies, Miraculins Inc. and Kane Biotech Inc. and was involved with bringing both companies public in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Mr. Enns has held senior management positions with a number of early stage biotech companies over the last ten years, prior to which he was employed in the banking industry with a focus on lending and financial management. Mr. Enns obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from the University of Manitoba. He currently sits on the board of CanAm Bioresearch Inc., Marsala Biotech Inc. and GVI Clinical Development Solutions Inc.
Robert F. Butz, Ph.D., Director
Robert F. Butz, Ph.D. most recently was VP Medical and Scientific Affairs with Biovail Technologies Ltd., the R&D division of Biovail Corporation. Before Biovail he was employed by MDS Pharma Services as VP Global Regulatory Affairs, VP & GM of Development & Regulatory Services, and Interim VP & GM of Global Clinical Development. Before MDS he served as Co-Founder, President & COO of Polymerix Corporation; Co-Founder, President & CEO of Copernicus Therapeutics; President & COO of Sensus Drug Development Corporation; and VP Development of Amylin Pharmaceuticals. Before that, he served as Quintiles’ first VP Clinical Operations, and as VP Strategic Business Research with Quintiles Transnational Corporation. Before Quintiles, he spent 11 years in basic and clinical R&D positions at Burroughs Wellcome. Dr. Butz is an elected member of both the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and holds membership in the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the Drug Information Association, where he served on the Steering Committees for the Americas and for Biotechnology. He received an A.B. in Biology from Kenyon College, a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Duke University, and holds U.S. patents in drug delivery and bioanalytical technology.
